The Challenge
VFX portfolios are notoriously difficult: they need to showcase massive 4K video files without slowing down the browser. Nebula's previous site was a laggy grid of YouTube embeds that diminished the quality of their work. They needed a "Theater Mode" experience—a site that recedes into the background and lets the visuals scream, all while maintaining 60fps performance on mobile devices.

The Solution
We built a "Performance-First" immersive showcase. We utilized a dark, cinematic UI (Deep Black #050505) to frame the work. Technically, we implemented a custom lazy-loading engine that only loads high-res video when it enters the viewport, replacing it with a lightweight blur-hash instantly. We used WebGL for subtle distortion effects on hover, giving the site a "sci-fi" feel that matches their movie work. The navigation is hidden until needed, maximizing screen real estate.

The Outcomes
The site performance score went from 45 to 98 on Lighthouse.
Bounce rate dropped by 60% because videos actually played instantly.
The studio was contacted by a major streaming platform (Netflix) for a series contract.

Client Review
Finally, a site that keeps up with our quality. It feels cinematic, runs smooth as butter, and lets the work speak for itself. You solved the video loading problem we've had for years. Best investment we've made.
